Jesus Loves Me (Senior Style)

Here is a special "senior" version of "Jesus Loves Me" written for a senior VBS. It is quite cute, so all you "Seniors" and near Seniors, read, sing and enjoy yourself. ( If you receive this and do not consider yourself eligible or nearly eligible-please share it with someone who might appreciate it.)

Jesus loves me, this I know
Though my hair is white as snow
Though my sight is growing dim
Still He bids me trust in him.

(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO

Though my steps are oh, so slow.
With my hand in His I'll go
On through life, let come what may
He'll be there to lead the way.

(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

Though I am no longer young,
I have much which He's begun
Let me serve Christ with a smile.
Go with other's the"extra mile".

(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song,
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have not fear, for I am near."

(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand his love

(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.
THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

I love Jesus, does he know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say
That I love him every day.

(CHORUS)
Yes, I love Jesus,
Yes, I love Jesus,
Yes, I love JesusI
tell Him when I pray.

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19. A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million. It depends whose hands it's in.

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6. A baseball in Mark McGuire's hands is worth $19 million. It depends on whose hands it's in.

A tennis racket is useless in my hands. A tennis racket in Venus Williams' hands is a championship winning. It depends whose hands it's in.

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal. A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea. It depends whose hands it's in.

A sling shot in my hands is a kid's toy A sling shot in David's hand is a mighty weapon. It depends whose hands it's in.

Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches. Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in God's hands will feed thousands. It depends whose hands it's in.

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse. Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will produce salvation for the entire world. It depends whose hands it's in.

Facing Temptation!

By Jim Hinck © 2005. All rights reserved.

Temptation comes from evil desires inside us. It begins with an evil thought and becomes sin when we dwell on the thought and allow it to become an action. Like a snowball rolling downhill, sin grows more destructive the more we let have its way. The best way to stop temptation is before it is too strong or moving too fast to control.

God does not lead us into temptation, but sometimes he allows us to be tested by temptation. As disciples, we should pray to be delivered from these trying times and for deliverance from Satan and his deceit.

All Christians struggle with temptation. Sometimes it is in subtle that we don't
even realize what is happening to us. God has promised that he won't allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). Ask God to help you recognize temptation and to give you strength to overcome it and choose
God's way instead.

People who live for God often wonder why they still have temptations. Does God Tempt them? God tests people, but he does not tempt them by trying to seduce them into sin. God allows Satan to tempt people, however, in order to refine their faith and to help them grow in their dependence on Christ. We can resist the temptation to sin by turning to God for strength and choosing to obey his
word.

We are warned to watch out for Satan when we are suffering or being persecuted. Feeling alone, weak, helpless, and cut off from other believers, so focused on our troubles that we forget to watch for danger, we are especially
vulnerable to Satan's attacks. During times of suffering and great stress, even if you have a willing spirit, seek other Christians for support.

Jesus gave us an example of what to do to resist temptation: (1) pray to God
(Mark 14:39); (2) seek support of friends and loved ones (Mark 14: 33, 37, 40,
41); (3) focus on the purpose God has given us (Mark 14:36)

Sin is enticing because it offers a quick way to prosperity and makes us feel like
one of the crowd. But when we go along with others and refuse to listen to the truth, our own appetites become our masters, and we'll do anything to satisfy
them.

Sin, even when attractive, is deadly. We must learn to make choices, not on the basis of flashy appeal or short-range pleasure, but in view of the long-range effects. Sometimes this means steering clear of people who want to entice us into activities that we know are wrong. We can't be friendly with sin and expect our lives to remain unaffected.

It is easy to blame others and make excuses for evil thoughts and wrong actions.
Excuses include: (1) It's the other person's fault; (2) I couldn't help it; (3) Everybody's doing it; (4) It was just a mistake; (5) Nobody's perfect; (6) The
devil made me do it; (7) I was pressured into it; (8) I didn't know it was wrong;
(9) God is tempting me. A person who makes excuses is trying to shift the blame from himself or herself to something or someone else. A Christian, on the other hand accepts responsibility for his or her wrongs, confesses them, and asks God for forgiveness.

God keeps believers from falling prey to false teachers. Although false teachers are widespread and dangerous, we don't have to be afraid if we trust God and
are rooted and grounded in him.

I believe we are living in the last days. We are vulnerable to doctrine error. We are tempted to give into sin. Although there is much false teaching around us, we need not be afraid or give up in despair - God can keep us from falling, and
he guarantees that if we remain faithful, he will bring us into presence and
give us everlasting joy.

To be sinless and perfect ("without fault") will be the ultimate condition of the believer when he or she finally sees Christ face to face. When Christ appears and we are given our new bodies, we will be like Christ (1 John 3:12). Coming into Christ's presence will be more wonderful than we could ever imagine!

Our Heritage - Eternal Life!

© Jim Hinck 2005

Firstfruits were the first part of the harvest that faithful Jews brought to the temple as an offering (Leviticus 23:10). Although Christ was not the first to rise from the dead (he raised Lazarus and others), he was the first to never die again. He is the forerunner for you, the proof of your eventual resurrection to
eternal life.

Death came into the world as a result of Adam and Eve's sin. In Romans
5:12-21, Paul explained why Adam's sin brought sin to all people, how death and sin spread to all humans because of this sin, and the parallel between Adam's death and Christ's death.

Those who have rebelled against Christ will be resurrected also, but to hear God's judgement against them and to be sentenced to eternity apart from him.
There are those who wish to live well on earth, ignore God, and then see death as final rest. Jesus does not allow unbelieving people to see death as the end of it all. There is a judgement to face.

Jesus has power over life and death as well as power to forgive sins. This is because he is the Creator of life (see John 14:16). He who is life can surely restore life. Whoever believes in Christ has a spiritual life in Christ that death
cannot conquer or diminish in any way. When we realize his power and how wonderful his offer to us really is, how can we help but commit our lives to him! To those of us who believe, what wonderful assurance and certainty we have:
"Because I live, you also will live" (John 14:19).

Christian Victory!

By Jim Hinck - © 2005

Many people try to be good, honest people who do what is right. But Jesus says that the only way to live a truly good life is to stay close to him, like a branch attached to a vine. Apart from Christ our efforts are unfruitful. Are you receiving the nourishment and life offered by Christ, the vine? If not, you are missing a special gift he has for you.

Becoming a Christian means beginning a whole new relationship with God, not just turning over a new leaf or determining to do right. New believers have a changed purpose, direction, attitude,
and behavior. They are no longer seeking to serve themselves, but they are bearing fruit for God. Bearing fruit for God is not limited to soulwinning. Answered prayer, joy, and love are also fruit (John 15:7, 11-12).

As Christians, our remaining in Christ means (1) believing he is God's Son (1 John 4:15); (2)
receiving him as Lord and Savior (John 1:12); (3) doing what God says (1 John 3:24); (4)
continuing to believe the gospel (1 John 2:24); (5) relating in love to the community of believers,
Christ's body (John 15:12).

The love that caused Christ to die is the same love that sends the Holy Spirit to live in us and
guide us every day. The powers that raised Christ from the dead is the same power that saved
you and is available to you in your daily life. Be assured that, having begun a life with Christ you
have a reserve of power and love to call on each day, for help to meet every challenge or trial.
You can pray for God's power and love as you need it.

Rationally, we have become one with Christ, and his experiences are ours. Our Christian life begun when, in unity with him, we died to our old life (see Romans 6:5-11). In our daily life, we must regularly crucify sinful desires that keep us from following Christ. This too is a kind of dying with him (Luke 9:23-25).

We as Christians are no longer alone, for Christ lives in us-he is our power for living and our hope for the future (Colossians 1:27). The security of the believer is stored up in heaven. Because we know that our future destination and salvation are sure, we are free to live for Christ and loving others (1 Peter 1:3-4). When you find yourself doubting or wavering in your faith or love, remember your destination - heaven.

Becoming A Champion Disciple!

By Jim Hinck © 2005 All Rights Reserved.

The Christian life takes hard work, self-denial, and grueling preparation. As Christians, we are running toward our heavenly reward. The essential disciplines of prayer, Bible study, and worship equip us to run with vigor andstamina. Don't merely observe from a grandstand; don't just turn out to jog acouple of laps each morning. Train diligently - your spiritual progress depends on it.

God works in "all things" - not just isolated incidents - for our good. This does not mean that all that happens to us is good. Evil is prevalent in our fallen world, but God is able to turn every circumstance around for our long-range good.

Note that God is not working to make us happy, but to fulfill his purpose. Note also that this promise is not for everybody. It can only be claimed by those who love God and are called according to his purpose. Those who are "called"are those who the Holy Spirit convinces and enables to receive Christ. Such people have a new perspective, a new mind-set on life. They trust in God, not life's treasures; they look for their security in heaven, not on earth; they learn to accept, not resent, pain and persecution, because God is with them.

God's ultimate goal for us is to make us like Christ (1 John 3:2). As we become more and more like Christ, we discover our true selves, the persons we were created to be. How can we be conformed to Christ likeness? By reading and heeding the Word, by studying his life on earth through the Gospels, by being filled with his Spirit, and by doing his work in the world.

Christians know that there is life beyond the grave and that our life on earth is only a preparation for our life that will never end.

What you do today matters for eternity. Keeping company with those who deny the resurrection could corrupt good Christian character. Don't let your relationships with unbelievers lead you away from Christ or cause your faith to waver.

Is The Bible Real?

By Jim Hinck © 2005

The Bible is not a collection of stories, fables, myths, or merely human ideas about God. It is not a human book. Through the Holy Spirit, God revealed his person and plan to certain believers, who wrote down his message for the people (2 Peter 1:20-21). God inspired the writers, so their message is authentic and reliable. God used the talents, education, and cultural backgrounds for each writer, and God cooperated with the writers in such a way to ensure that the message he intended was faithfully communicated in the very words they wrote. The Bible's words are entirely authoritative for our faith and lives. The Bible is "God-breathed." Read it, and use its teachings to guide your conduct.

The Word of God is not simply a collection of words from God, a vehicle for communicating ideas; it is living, life changing, and dynamic as it works in us. With the incisiveness of a surgeon's knife. God's Word reveals who we are and what we are not. It penetrates the core of our moral and spiritual life. It discerns what is within us, both good and evil. The demands of God's Wordrequire decisions. We must not only listen to the Word; we must also let it shape our lives.

To walk safely in the woods at night we need a light so we don't trip over tree roots or fall into holes. In this life, we walk through a dark forest of evil. But the Bible can be our light to show us the way ahead so we won't stumble as we walk. It reveals the entangling roots of false values and philosophies. Study the Bible so you will be able to see your way clear enough to stay on the right path.

Only God's will, word, and work are permanent. We must stop grasping the temporary, and begin focusing our time, money, and energy on the permanent-the Word of God and our eternal life in Christ.

So now, do you believe that the Bible is real? I most certainly do!
